NBC News Seeks Local Teens, Parents

Shooting takes place in Nassau County in July for one day.

Here's a way to spend a day in the last week in July: in front of the cameras. NBC News is seeking teens for three separate projects it is shooting in Nassau County. Associate Producer Carly Segal gave Patch the details:

Parent/teen issues segment 

NBC News is seeking participants for a potential news program about parent/teen issues. One area of focus is healthy eating.  We need teens to taste-test healthy foods, and among other things, talk about their own eating habits and what parents and schools can do to promote healthy eating. Biju Mathew, casting director. Shooting one day - the last week of July 2011  - Nassau County, Long Island.

Seeking teens ages 15-17, and a parent, all ethnicities, no professional actors please. Note: Applicants and their parents must feel comfortable talking on camera about potentially controversial teen issues like body image, peer pressure, as well as other teen topics.

Kids, Pop culture and teen issues 

NBC News is seeking tweens/young teens to participate in the development of a trivia-type program and talk about teen issues. Carly Segal, casting director. Shooting one day in Nassau County, Long Island (last week of July).

Seeking boys and girls: 12-14, no professional actors please, to be videotaped as they show off their pop culture knowledge, team building skills and competitive spirit and talk about teen issues. Note: Kids and a parent must also be willing to speak on camera about how pop culture effects kids, whether the media is sending the right message, as well as other topics influencing kids today.

Tween Project 

NBC News is seeking boys and girls: 11-13 years old, no professional actors please, to compete in team building competitions. Jennifer Sherwood, casting director.  Shooting one day- the last week of July 2011 Nassau County, Long Island.

Tweens will be videotaped as they participate in athletic games and games of skill.  Boys and girls will be challenged to work together as they compete against other teams. Note: Kids and a parent must also be willing to speak on camera about boy/girl issues and potentially controversial topics tweens face.
