Petrone Declares Snow Emergency

Districts cancel after-school activities, other organizations close.

Supervisor Frank P. Petrone declared a snow emergency at noon Tuesday. Town Hall will close at 3 p.m. and  not open until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The MTA urges customers to leave work early Tuesday and finish traveling early Tuesday night, especially those who use Metro-North Railroad and the Long Island Rail Road.  LIRR station waiting rooms will remain open around-the-clock now through Friday afternoon, to accommodate customers waiting for trains during cold and inclement weather.

The Huntington school district is releasing the buses for dismissal from the high school and middle school approximately 30 minutes earlier to account for anticipated slow travel time. Children from all schools may therefore arrive home several minutes earlier than expected, again dependent on road conditions and travel time.
