What's Open? Here's Your List of Columbus Day Closings
Monday trash pickup canceled; classes canceled.
Monday is Columbus Day, meaning schools and Post Offices are closed.
In addition, the town has canceled trash pickup for Monday. Residents with Monday and Thursday pickup will have only Thursday service. The rest of the week's schedule remains the same. Residents who do not wish to store their trash until their scheduled pickup Thursday can take it to the Town of Huntington Recycling Center for this week only.
The Recycling Center is at 641 New York Ave., Huntington and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 am. to 4 p.m. You can see the sanitation schedule online.
Also closed Monday is the Huntington Arts Council.
Some banks are closed, but may remain open.
The New York Stock Exchange is open and the LIRR is on a normal schedule.
