Senior Advocates Plan Huntington Visits

Senior citizens are encouraged to visit with Suffolk County representatives who assist seniors with information gathering, completion of eligibility or recertification applications and referrals to appropriate community agencies.

Advocates meet with interested and needy seniors aged 60 and over at regularly scheduled times in specific locations throughout the community.  This fall, they are visiting the following locations in the Town of Huntington:

·      Huntington Nutrition Center: Wednesdays, October 23,  November 27 and December 18 from 9 am – 12 pm

·      Paumanack Village I & II (Greenlawn): Tuesdays, October 22, November 26 and December 17 from 10 am – 1 pm

·      Paumanack Village III & IV (Greenlawn): Thursdays November 7 from 10 am – 12 pm

·      Paumanack Village V & VI (Melville): Tuesdays, October 8, November 12 and December 10 from 9 am – 12 pm

·      South Huntington Library: Thursday, November 21 from 10 am – 11:30 am

·      Huntington Library: Monday, November 18 from 10 am – 12 pm

Advocates provide assistance with food stamps, Medicare savings programs, Medicaid applications and Heating Emergency Assistance Program (HEAP) applications.  They also answer questions and make additional recommendations and referrals.
