The Shamrock Claims Best Chicken Wings Title [VIDEO]

The  and the results are in — the title of Huntington's Best Chicken Wings goes to . 

Receiving more than 200 out of nearly 600 votes, and an army of support on Patch's message board, the Irish pub's owners proudly accepted the honorable distinction Wednesday. 

“It’s definitely a good feeling knowing that people like our food here and they like coming in. We’ve been here for a long time, people feel like they're at home when they come here” said the restaurants 32-year owner, Kevin Morrison. “They love the food and they love the atmosphere.”

After buying the restaurant as a 20-year-old, Morrison said he has tried to build a reputation for fresh food and a fun atmosphere at the New York Avenue location.

Joe Russo, Morrison's son-in-law and at executive chef at the restaurant, said the much of the  taste comes from in-house butchering and homeade sauce. He was excited to be named No. 1.

“It’s a great honor. Huntington is a big town with a lot of bars and restaurants and for us to stand out on top is a big deal,” said Russo.

In a close contest between ,  for the title, passionate wing eaters made their favorites known since from a long list published Feb. 20 on Patch.

"I'd put The Shamrock head to head with any category this Patch wants to throw out there!, said John G. Burgers, ... "there new chef who's been there a couple of years now is one the nicest guys I know."

“Shamrock wings are the best and the owner is a great guy who has been in the business for over 30 years ... He knows what he is doing!” said Adam H.
