Statue Unveiled at Breezy Park

Family and friends turn out to honor girl who loved sports.

Friends and family gathered Thursday at Breezy Park for the unveiling of a sculpture dedicated to Brianna Titcomb.

Her father, John Titcomb, spoke to the crowd with his wife, Dawn, and son, Brett, at his side.

The Lloyd Harbor girl was killed by a drunk driver in Texas in 2005. She was 13 years old and had been active in the Cold Spring Harbor Soccer Club. The statue shows her kicking a soccer ball.

Supervisor Frank Petrone thanked the contributors who helped establish the park, which was dedicated in 2011.

The park was constructed with a combination of town funds and a $1 million donation from Joe and Nikki Gregory.

The sculpture was the work of Michael Alfano, an East Meadow native who has created numerous public art works, including, "Stand Up, Speak Out," which was made with the support of the Long Island chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. It is located in Eisenhower Park. Alfano said that his girlfriend was killed several years ago by a drunk driver, and that led him to create several works that remember the loss of others.
