Big-8 Race to Come Through Village

A race on a course shaped like a Figure 8 will be run Saturday through the heart of Huntington Village.

Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, the race benefits several good causes, including veterans and the organization's project to eliminate neo-natal tetanus.

Suffolk police issued a traffic warning last week that all roads in the village are subject to closing between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.

The Greater Long Island Running Club said the race would follow this route:

Runners proceed west making the right turn onto Prime Avenue, then head north on New York Avenue, then west onto Mill Dam Road. They then turn left onto Wall Street and head south to Main Street where 5k runners/walkers proceed east on Main Street to the finish line and 10k runners cross Main Street . A quick right and left takes runners onto Oakwood Road. Competitors turn west, through Woodchuck Hollow and Hawxhurst Road to Woodbury Road and back to Main Street, where runners head east and return to Town Hall.
