Village After Dark: Strawberry's Ladies Night

By far, one of the most exciting nights of the week.

Thursday nights have been the beginning of the week for me for about...oh five years now. It's so much better starting on Thursday as it gives you something to look forward to AND there's usually some special or another – like the Ladies' Night special at Strawberry's. The bar's Ladies Night includes FREE drinks for ladies from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., on well drinks and beer on tap. Their beers include Palm, Blue Moon and a variety of others, including Coors and Budweiser (and light versions, too) in bottles. Beers range from $6 and up and shots range from about $3 and up. The atmosphere here is perfect for any group, couples or singles going to hang out. Strawberry's is actually hosting a singles' night on Feb. 27, which might be something to …

Village After Dark: Nag's Head Offers a Pub Atmosphere on Saturday Evenings

Despite the frigid temperatures, many turned out for a laid-back evening at Nag's Head Ale House on New York Avenue.

Usually on Saturdays, I head out to Rockville Centre or Manhattan, but when it's so cold, it's much nicer to stay closer to home and so this Saturday, I decided to try a place in Huntington Village. I dressed up in jeans, a blazer and heels. I always wear heels, but from the look of the Saturday crowd at Nag's Head Ale House on New York Avenue, boots and jeans were more the norm. We got to the bar about 9:30 p.m. and it seemed a bit early – the crowd really started to pick up about 10:30 p.m., although there were a significant number of people there watching hockey and basketball games.  The best thing, for me, about Nag's Head is that they have cider on tap – I'm gluten-free, which means I can't drink beer, so the fact that I can have a "…

Village After Dark: Breakfast After a Night Out

Saturday morning is all about playing Monday Morning Quarterback with your friends and what better place to rehash Friday’s events than the local diner.

Breakfast on Saturdays is one of my favorite traditions – you throw on sweatpants, wake up your friends and head out. Breakfast could be anywhere from the wee hours to 3 p.m., but it’s always filled with laughs, stories and that’s some of the best memories of the weekend. Of course, it’s also filled with strategizing for Saturday night, but that’s another post.  1. Golden Dolphin Restaurant: This Main Street staple, located at the top of the street near St. Patrick’s Church, has some of the biggest omelets and salads I’ve ever seen.  My personal favorite is the American cheese, sausage and egg omelet with curly fries and honey mustard – can you say delicious? I most certainly can! There are also heart-healthy options, dinner options and …

Village After Dark: 5 Places to Eat Out Late

After a late night of partying, most people grab a bite (or two) before heading home to bed.

Happy Thursday, folks! That’s the “official” beginning of the weekend for my group and I think everyone should follow suit because it makes Friday much easier to get through and there's so many exciting things happening on Thursdays. Besides heading out to local clubs, there’s always that need to grab a bite before heading to bed, and many restaurants accommodate the late night crowds. If you are trying to keep your resolutions (and avoid the late night eating), there are also a few great breakfast places for Saturday morning. 1. Little Vincent’s: No late night eats story about the Village would be complete without mentioning this pizza spot on New York Avenue. Open until 2 a.m. Sunday to Thursday and 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, this …

Jersey Shore's Snooki Rocks Book Revue

MTV reality TV star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi comes to Huntington to sign her book and greet hundreds of fans – and their parents.

The Jersey Shore came to Huntington Village’s Book Revue Tuesday with hundreds of tweens and teens impersonating the reality TV stars for the book signing by Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, author of “A Shore Thing.” The first customers in line arrived at the store around 9 a.m., according to employees. “We sold out of our stock. I got in at 2:30 p.m., but people were here way before that. We had over 500 books and we’ve been selling them for about a week,”  employee Greg Fox said. Many teens came with their parents, brought pizza and coffee and donned “poofs” and Ed Hardy apparel for the occasion. One group of girls brought a package of pickles with their Twitter handles, in hopes that Snooki would enjoy the treat and in return follow them. …

Watch Nat Geo--->Cure Cancer. Got it. I guess no doctors have ever watched Nat Geo because no one has seemed to cure cancer yet. It's obvious you hate the show and I don't disagree that is pretty useless overall, but that is one heck of a leap.   more ›
