The Huntington Conservation Board is a Town Board-appointed volunteer advisory organization. The Conservation BoardMore reviews and provides comments to the Town Board, Planning Board, Board of Trustees, and Zoning Board of Appeals on applications for land use change that have potential to affect Open Space Index-mapped property. In addition to its advisory review functions, the Conservation Board serves as a vital conduit for conveying environmental information on key topic areas (land use and review, marine and freshwater resources, parks, solid waste, and legislation) to Town leaders.

Members of the Zoning Board of Appeals are appointed by the trustees serving five year terms with one position up every year. Other appointments made by the Board are for one year.
