Town of Huntington—Boards and Commissions

Town Board

The Town Board is located at 100 Main St. and can be reached at 631-351-3173.

  • The Town Board, also called the Town Council, is the governing body of the town of Huntington, and consists of the supervisor and the four council members.
  • The Board passes town ordinances and local laws, adopts an annual budget, controls the town's finances and appoints all department heads and their deputies.
  • The members of the town board also form the Board of Trustees with the supervisor as president and the four council members as trustees.
  • The board of trustees is responsible for leasing, sales and management of certain town properties consisting mainly of underwater land and waterfront property.

Board of Ethics and Financial Disclosure

The Board of Ethics and Financial Disclosure can be reached at 631-351-3344 or ethics@town.huntington.ny.us.

  • Howard Glickstein is the chairman of the board.
  • The board is responsible for rendering opinions in response to requests and sworn complaints.
  • It also reviews financial disclosure statements, and conducts an annual public hearing for the general public to recommend improvements to the code of ethics.
  • The board also conducts seminars for all government officials of the town to provide a means of education and information.
  • The board is comprised of the chairman and the following members:

Planning Board

  • Paul Mandelik is the chairman of the board.
  • The board promotes the goals of the Town Comprehensive Plan and provides support for planning and land-use decisions.
  • The board is comprised of the chairman and the following members:

    • Avrum Rosen
    • Lynn Healy
    • Jane Devine

Town of Huntington Economic Development Corporation

Town of Huntington Economic Development Corporation can be reached at 631-351-2847.

  • Rob Ripp is the chairman of Town of Huntington Economic Development Corporation.
  • The economic development corporation is a not-for-profit corporation that aims at fostering economic development and business opportunities throughout the town.
  • The board usually meets once a month on the first Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Huntington Station Enrichment Center, 1264 New York Ave., Huntington Station.
  • The board is comprised of the chairman and the following members:

  • Members of the board are appointed to seven-year terms.
  • The board administrates requests for variances and conditional uses.
  • The board is comprised of the chairman and the following members:

Beautification Council

  • The Beautification Council is responsible for development and maintenance of the town's cleanliness and appearance.
  • The council makes recommendations to and cooperates with the proper town authorities and departments concerning landscaping, and advises the town board on allocation of funds to beautification programs.
  • The council by means of education, publicity and information promotes development and maintenance of the town.
  • The council also appoints advisory groups and committees to maintain a liaison with all organizations in the town.
  • The Beautification Council is comprised of the following members:

Conservation Board

  • The Conservation Board is a volunteer advisory organization which reviews and provides comments to the town board, planning board, board of trustees, and zoning board of appeals on applications for land use change that have potential to affect open space index-mapped property.
  • The board serves as a medium for passing environmental information on key topic areas to town leaders.
  • The board also coordinates the volunteer park stewardship program that aids administration of town parkland.
  • The Conservation Board is comprised of the following members:

MTA Commuter Council

  • MTA Commuter Council of Huntington collects responses and addresses commuter concerns and implements changes.
  • The council acts as liaison between commuters, town officials and the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA).
  • MTA Commuter Council is comprised of the following members:

Roseanna, you are in error. No Republican was newly elected to the Huntington Town Board. Mr. Cook is a registered Independence Party member and was only endorsed by the Republican party.
