Art, Spoken Word and Music Saturday in Huntington Station

Event features food and craft beer, in Huntington Station Saturady.

Catch SPARKBOOM's 2014 Kickoff Event, "Beards, Bards and BOOM," Saturday  at 7 p.m. at the Walt Whitman Birthplace State Historic Site in Huntington Station.

The event will highlight the works of local talent, featuring an outdoor sculpture garden and an indoor art gallery as well as live music and poetry. Food is courtesy of Batata Cafe and Craft Beer courtesy of Saint James Brewery.

SPARKBOOM aims to foster the success of Long Island's emerging creative talent by providing opportunities, programs and event experiences geared to those 18-34 years of age, addressing the "brain drain" of Long Island's young creative professionals. SPARKBOOMis a project of the Huntington Arts Council funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. The Huntington Arts Council is a legitimate 501c3 not-for-profit organization and all proceeds from this event will benefit its programs.

A $5 donation is suggested. The Walt Whitman Birthplace State Historic Site is located at 246 Old Walt Whitman Rd, Huntington Station.
