Candidates Night, Fall Festival and a Parade

Candidates Forum in Elwood
Civic groups are hosting a candidates night Wednesday in Elwood. Candidates for several town offices and two county legislative seats are invited to the 7 p.m. forum at Elwood Middle School.

5 Women to Be Honored

Five women will be honored Monday at the town's 12th annual Women's Networking day. This year carries the theme is “People…Passion…Purpose: A Prism of Possibilities.”

Brio Restaurant to Open

Long Island's first Brio Tuscan Grille will open Thursday. The national restaurant chain is one of several new businesses opening at Walt Whitman Shops.

Target to Open Its Doors
The new big-box store on the former Huntington Townhouse property opens Wednesday. Target representatives and local officials will cut the ribbon Tuesday. 

Cinema Arts Centre Celebrating 40th Anniversary
The Cinema Arts Centre is celebrating its 40th anniversary Thursday with an auction, film showing and more. The celebration is set for the North Ritz Club in Syosset.

Long Island Fall Festival
Four days of the Long Island Fall Festival get underway Friday and run through the long weekend. Vendors, a carnival and musical entertainment will set up in Heckscher Park.

Columbus Day Parade
The Sons of Italy parade will march along Main Street starting at noon Sunday in the annual Columbus Day parade. More than 25 chapters from Queens, Nassau and Suffolk will be marching, along with several high school bands and other organizations.
