America's Debt

A simple approach to our debt.

When we live beyond our means for as long as we have, we come to expect certain things from government. It is time for " we the people" to rethink this wonderful social experiment called America. Where does it say that we must expect certain things or services from government. Our debt cuts across all party lines, all races and creeds and must be addressed by all of us. We spent our way into this mess, we can figure, literally and unspend our way out.

Amen brother! We, the President included, must look at ourselves and not blame everyone else. We wouldn't run our households this way, and we shouldn't run our government this way either.

"If the US Government was a family, they would be making $58,000 a year, spending $75,000 a year, and have $327,000 in credit card debt. They are currently proposing BIG spending cuts to reduce their spending...to $72,000 a year. These are the actual proportions of the federal budget and debt, reduced to a level that we can understand." -- Dave Ramsey

I think these "cuts" are only reductions to the increase in spending, so in that example it would be like going from 75k in spending to 80k instead of 81k. But the real issue is the role of government. Its not so much "unspending". Its undoing. I would repeal virtually every act signed by the President starting with obamacare and going backward up to and including the anti trust acts of the late 19th century.
