Cook's Comments

Dear Editor:

I recently saw a TV commercial that showed Councilman Eugene Cook saying he wanted to bring a gun to Town Hall to solve his problems.  I was obviously skeptical, so I went on YouTube and found the actual clip.  Cook was at a tea party rally and when given suggestion on how he could solve issues at Town Hall he said that, “ it would be a whole lot easier to carry a gun.”  How can he think it is okay to joke about gun violence?  This is exactly the type of rhetoric that inspires those with mental illness and disease to go to far.  The ad also said he was opposed to Governor Cuomo’s commonsense law for background checks for gun purchasers.   So Eugene Cook opposes background checks on exactly the type of person that would take his comments seriously?  Gun violence is never a joke and as an elected official he should know better.

Sincerely Cameron Williams
