Independence Day represents a special time for our nation in that we have the opportunity to celebrate the traditions and values that make our country strong.

Unlike countless other nations, the United States of America represents so much more than a geographic location and set of natural boundaries. The USA is, instead, a unique idea founded on the principles of liberty, freedom, and the potential of individual initiative.

Our nation’s founders, along with the courageous men and women who followed, sacrificed and endured considerable personal risk to ensure us the blessings of liberty.  It is the brave sacrifice of others that allows us to rest comfortably under the warm blanket of freedom that is America.

While our nation might not be perfect, we have proven to be the most benevolent and industrious people on the face of the earth.

As our country celebrates its birthday this week, we should all take a moment to reflect upon the privileges we enjoy in being Americans.  The years ahead look bright for the United States, as we endeavor to build upon the grand experiment begun on July 4, 1776.
