As Storm Comes In, Waters Kick Up

At West Neck Beach in Huntington, spectacular clouds and sharp breezes.

The from the south and west painted a majestic picture on the northern shore of Huntington Saturday afternoon.

West Neck Beach, empty except for two or three visitors enjoying the solitude, was swept by stinging sand on several occasions. Most of the boats were at anchor, though a handful of sailboats dotted the .

The National Weather Service has for the metropolitan area Saturday, in effect until 9 p.m. Reported twisters have been spotted near Breezy Point and Canarsie Saturday.

Meanwhile, Long Islanders can expect spectacular cloud formations, high winds and warm temperatures until the storm passes through later Saturday.
