St. Anthony's Football Overpowers Stepinac, 55-29

Friars run winning streak to 23 in row with third straight road win.

football handed previously unbeaten Stepinac a 55-29 loss Friday night in White Plains. The CHSFL showdown turned into an offensive show for the Friars (4-0 overall, 3-0 CHSFL), who accounted for 448 yards.

St. Anthony’s quarterback Peter Carew was a near-perfect 10 of 11 for 141 yards and one touchdown, according to the New York Post. Maston Ellerbe ran for 157 yards and two scores.

Another highlight was Friars safety Durelle Napier, who took one of three Stepinac interceptions back for a touchdown, the Journal News reported. The 21-yard pick-six put the Friars up 14-0.

St. Anthony’s has won 23 games in a row and is the top-ranked Class AA team in the NYSSWA state poll

The Friars have one more road test when they travel to Brooklyn to face Xaverian Saturday at 7 p.m.
