Update: St. Anthony's Football Opener Canceled

Game canceled after flood conditions in Pennsylvania force State College to stay home.

Friday night’s season opener between Pennsylvania power State College and  was postponed and then canceled, according to Friars Athletic Director Don Buckley.

State College opted not to travel Friday because of flood conditions in Pennsylvania. When the game was moved to Sunday, the Pennsylvania school ultimately deemed the conditions too dangerous to travel then as well, wiping out the season opener for the Friars.

“Tonight’s football game has been postponed due to severe flooding in Pennsylvania,” Buckley said.

Now St. Anthony's will open at home Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. against Staten Island rival Farrell.
