St. Anthony's Football Falls to Iona Prep

Friars lose 30-28 to CHSFL rival on the road, fall to 0-2 for first time since 1980.

football is off to an 0-2 start for first time in the era after dropping a 30-28 decision to CHSFL rival Iona Prep Saturday in New Rochelle.

Iona Prep (2-0) ran for 301 yards on 53 carries as quarterback Mario Biaggi and running back Shaquille Townsend each topped 100 yards, according to The Journal News.

The Friars actually exploded to take a 21-13 first-quarter lead, The News said, but was held to 112 yards offense over the final 36 minutes.

Friars sophomore running back Jordan Gowins, the younger brother of former All-Long Island Bellport back Ed Gowins, had touchdown runs of 32 and 10 yards, according to Newsday.

The News reported St. Anthony's junior quarterback Greg Galligan missed the game with a concussion.

We have had cats disappear for months, before trapping them.
