Massapequa's Championship Tuesday

Girls soccer, field hockey, boys and girls volleyball each play for Long Island titles Tuesday.

Welcome to Sportstown USA.

Massapequa High School sports teams have had a remarkable fall. It comes to a head Tuesday with four programs vying for Long Island championships.

Hurricane Sandy compressed the playoff schedule, which made this year's title runs that much tougher to pull off thanks to back-to-back-to-back games. The gruelling run continues.

The Massapequa girls soccer team (14-3-1), which won a state title in 2010, took the Nassau Class AA championship Monday with a 3-2 win over Calhoun. The Chiefs had a string of 11 scoreless halfs broken when Calhoun got two second-half goals. Erica Modena scored twice to power Massapequa, according to Newsday.

The Chiefs advance to face Suffolk champ Northport Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Dowling Sports Complex. Tickets are $7. The winner goes to the state Final Four in Cortland.

Massapequa repeated as Nassau Class A field hockey champs with a 1-0 win over Port Washington Sunday. Kristin Yevoli scored the lone goal, Newsday reported. The Chiefs (10-4) face Suffolk champ Sachem East for the Long Island crown Tuesday 6 p.m. at Adelphi University. The winner advances to the state tourney at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.

One year after going to states, the Massapequa boys volleyball team (16-1) is one win away from a repeat trip. The Chiefs beat Plainview JFK in three games to earn the Nassau Class A title. They face Lindenhurst Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Westhampton Beach Middle School. The winners heads to states in Glens Falls.

Massapequa (16-0) won its 13th Nassau Class AA championship in a row in girls volleyball Sunday, beating Baldwin in three games. Now Massapequa draws Ward Melville for the LI title Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Roslyn High School. The winner advances to the state tourney in Glens Falls.

And let's not forget football, which plays in the Nassau Conference I semifinal Thursday at Hofstra.

All four Massapequa teams lost Tuesday, but it was a great run all the way.
