League Honors Devon Nelson

Huntington High grad named defensive player of the week.

Nichols College freshman Devon Nelson, a Huntington High School graduatehas been named the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Defensive Player of the Week.

Nelson recorded a game-high 17 tackles (six solo) and 0.5 tackles for loss (TFL) in Saturday’s game against Endicott. He sits fifth on the Bison in tackles this season with 28 (14 solo) – including 3.5 TFL.

“Devon did a lot of great things on Saturday,” said Nichols third-year head coach Kevin Loney. “He really brought a presence to the middle of our defense. He’s only going to get better as he gets more snaps. I’m excited to see where he goes from here.”

Nichols travels to Cambridge, Mass., Friday for a 7 p.m.contest at MIT.
