It was an exciting day for some young football players Saturday at the Huntington Youth Football League's first equipment issue of the uppcoming season.
About 80 registered players from 7 to 13 years old were issued practice equipment including helmet with chin strap, shoulder pads, practice pants, girdle, thigh pads, knee pads, hip pads and the ever-important tail pad.
The final equipment issue is scheduled for Sunday, June 19, at the same location, 90 E 5th St, Huntington Station, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The league encourages players to pick up equipment by Saturday so that all players are ready when teams start to practice.
Game pants and game jerseys will be issued in September.
