Huntington Harbor Parade of Lights

A boating kickoff to the holiday season starts with the Huntington Harbor Parade of Lights on the Friday after Thanksgiving, in what organizers hope will become an annual event.

Vessels will rendezvous at 5:15 p.m. in the area between Wyncote Yacht Club and Huntington Yacht Club. The parade will start at 6 p.m. at the Huntington Yacht Club, with judging taking place somewhere along the route through the harbor. It is expected to take about 40 minutes, depending on how many boats participate.

Parade goers also should expect to see volunteers from Save Huntington's Lighthouse circulating through the crowd, collecting funds toward purchasing 650 tons of granite rocks called rip rap to pile around the lighthouse foundation to prevent erosion.

The parade route from Huntington Yacht Club goes down the harbor, bears right at the bifurcation buoy heading toward the Town Boat Ramp,  then passes West Shore Marina and makes a left at the Town Ramp, then goes past Willis Marine and left again past Coneys Marine, passing Prime Restaurant on the right. Boats must cross the finish mark or they will be disqualified from judging.
