Chuck Varese Vehicle Extrication Tournament

Twenty-four teams from Huntington township f will take part in the Third Annual Chuck Varese Vehicle Extrication Tournament Saturday.

In support of local fire departments and through the coordination of Robert J. Varese, Ex-Chief, Northport Fire Department, is donating 30 vehicles to be used in the tournament.

The event is named after  Varese's son Chuck, who was fatally struck three years ago by an intoxicated motorist on Route 25A in Centerport.  The competition is designed to build camaraderie between fire departments and its members, as well as to share valuable lifesaving extrication techniques, which will ultimately help to save precious time when a victim's life is in jeopardy.
