Please join Councilwoman Susan A. Berland, the Huntington Youth Council, the Dix Hills Ice Rink and Bethpage Federal Credit Union for a 2 hour free skating period on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Dix Hills Ice Rink, located at Dix Hills Park, 575 Vanderbilt Parkway, Dix Hills.
This event will be held in conjunction with the Huntington Youth Council's 2nd annual skate swap. From October 11 to October 22, the Ice rink has encouraged its patrons to bring in their gently used skates, jerseys, helmets, pads, sticks and other equipment to swap for another item. Once someone drops off an item at the main office of the rink, the receive a voucher than will be admission to the swap. The swap, held simultaneously with the free skating period, will be set up like a bazaar with members of the Huntington Youth Council working as "sales associates" helping their customers find the right equipment.
The free skating period is available to anyone visiting the rink at the time, compliments of Bethpage Federal Credit Union.
