Whitman Heads Into Homecoming

South Huntington festivities include expanded parade route and lineup.

Whitman High School is getting ready for its big homecoming weekend, featuring an expanded parade route and lineup on Saturday.

Thursday, there's a powder puff football game at 5 p.m.
Friday, there's a bonfire at 6 p.m. in the parking lot, and a dance at 7 p.m.

Saturday is the big day. The parade, which in the past has kept to the area known as the tree streets, will head out from the high school at 1 p.m., head to Jericho Turnpike, travel east to Collins Place, to Peachtree Lane and back to West Hills Road and the high school.

Superintendent David Bennardo said Wednesday that the parade will include more community groups, veterans, scouts, local leaders, and teams and organizations from around the district than it has in the past.

At 3 p.m., the Wildcats will face off against Copiague.
