senior athlete Alyssa Vallar has signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Binghamton University in the fall.
Vallar, an all-county soccer player and academic standout, has made an impression on her coach.
“It amazes me how well she does in school and still finds the time to devote to consistently playing soccer,” said Whitman’s soccer coach Mike Moccia, in a press release. “She’s the full package both on and off the field."
Moccia said Vallar will be a perfect fit at the college level and should make an impact.
Vallar skipped basketball and spring track to concentrate on soccer, acccording to school officials. She is a member of the competing in MSG Varsity's "The Challenge."

Scoring a crucial penalty kick, Vallar and keeper Samantha Myers-Dineen, who made saves on West Babylon's fourth and fifth shots lead No. 15 Whitman (8-5-2) over No. 18 West Babylon in the Suffolk Class AA girls soccer outbracket game Oct. 28, according to a Newsday report.
