Wellness Fair at Whitman

District fair offers help on healthy foods, exercise and more.

Scores of students, families and residents came out Thursday for the third annual health and wellness fair sponsored by the .

Healthy foods, blood pressure checks, demonstrations of CPR and chances for exercise were among the attractions at the fair. Students sampled food, helped with surveys, presented information on calories or watched a puppet show about dental care.

Melinda Murray and  Karen Acampora, both mothers of young sons who died unexpectedly of heart problems, demonstrated CPR and talked about the youth heart screening set for Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Whitman. This screening is open to all young people between the ages of 12—24, regardless of where they attend school.
