Students Sent Home From Whitman

Whitman High School is sending students home for the day after a car accident takes out power to the school.

Walt Whitman school officials have announced that the school has been closed for the day after a car accident took out power to the school.

"All students have been sent home," said South Huntington School District spokesperson Steve Bartholomew. "After a car accident involving a student, we had to shut down power while LIPA reestablishes a line."

No injuries were reported in the collision betwen a student's car and a utility pole, according to Bartholomew.
