Seminar Aims to Empower Parents on Prevention of Drug, Alchohol Use

Free seminar at Whitman High School Tuesday.

The South Huntington Against Drugs organization will sponsor a free seminar, "Our Kids + Our Community = Our Concerns: How Can We Help Our Children Make Healthy Choices?" at Tuesday.

Neuroscientist Stephen Dewey of the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research at North Shore-LIJ Hospital, will explain how alcohol and drug use affects the developing adolescent brain and adult brains. A range of drugs from caffeine to heroin will be covered through the use of MRI slides. 

One of the program's goals is to empower parents with the knowledge and confidence to guide their children through the adolescent years.
