School Districts Closed Monday

Road conditions after blizzard to keep districts closed.

The South Huntington and Huntington school districts have canceled all classes and activities for Monday.

St. Anthony's High School will also be closed.

Layers of ice under snow clogging the streets has made transportation too dangerous, the districts said.

"Although our district Buildings and Grounds staff has done a tremendous job clearing our campuses and readying our buildings, unfortunately as a result of the exceptionally poor road conditions throughout the district, all Huntington schools will be closed tomorrow, Monday, February 11," superintendent James Polansky said. "I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause, but, again, the safety of our students, staff and families remains our foremost concern. All after-school activities are canceled as well, with the exception of tomorrow evening's Board of Education meeting, which will be held as scheduled."
