Residents will get look at budgets before May 21 vote.

Residents will get a chance to review their proposed school budgets, as both the Huntington and South Huntington boards meet ahead of next week's school budget votes.

Huntington's budget calls for a spending increase of 2.55 percent over the current budget, to $114,707,235. Two building improvement measures, one to establish a new building improvement fund and another to release monies held in the current building improvement fund, are also up for a vote.

Also on the ballot May 21 are the election of two trustees, to replace Richard McGrath and John Paci III, who decided not to run again. On the ballot to replace them are William Dwyer, Jennifer Mosden, Deniqua Crichlow and Bari Fehrs.

The Huntington Board of Education meets Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at Jack Abrams Intermediate School.

Voters in South Huntington can hear about the proposed $147 million budget Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Whitman High School. The budget represents an average tax increase of $306.37 for homeowners, the district said.

Three candidates, incumbents Nick Ciappetta and Laura Carey, and newcomer Cameron Williams, will vie for two spots.
