Question of the Day: What Would You Cut?

If school budget cuts are necessary again this year, how would you approach the issue?

With the state tax cap passed and costs rising for Huntington school districts, budget cuts are looming again this fall. Last year, Huntington High school slashed funding for the marching band and cut kindergarten classes to half days to save money.

As budgets continue to tighten, decisions will become more difficult for school districts. How do you suggest they approach the issue? What do you recommend they do if budget cuts are necessary? Should it be an across the board cut or should they target specific areas? What areas? Why?
