Huntington has produced some great athletes through the years. The partial list includes triathlete Sarah Reinertsen (Huntington), the NHL's Rob Scuderi (St. Anthony's), the NFL's Stephen Bowen (Half Hollow Hills) and Kurt Sohn (Huntington), the NBA's Wally Szcerbiak (Cold Spring Harbor) and boxing great Gerry Cooney (Whitman).
