Picture Perfect Moments at the Huntington Prom

Guests gathered at Larkfield Manor for a masquerade-themed party.

Huntington High School celebrated its junior/senior prom with a masquerade ball held at the Larkfield Manor in East Northport.

Two hundred and forty-two students turned out for the annual dance, with the guest list being evenly divided between the two classes.

Lori Pyzocha, a science teacher at Huntington High School, and Eliana Oranges, a Spanish teacher, served as the advisors for the gala event.

As is tradition, the juniors coordinated the event for their upperclassmen, Pyzocha said, adding that the fundraisers that the juniors held since their freshman year included bake sales and variety shows.

The juniors also had a play fest and created floats for the homecoming parade that garnered money prizes.

They chose the masquerade theme because they thought that it was elegant and fun, Pyzocha said.

Ally Kiley was among the members of the prom committee which included Richard Gray, Lauren Corcoran, Shayne Larkin, Alexa Giammarino, Olivia Weller and Cody Jacobs.

"It was a lot of work, but it paid off," Kiley said, adding that the students created the invitations and the ballots.

The majority of the girls were dressed to the nines in jewel-toned ensembles which were color-coordinated with their dates' ties. There was a mix of full length gowns and short dresses, with sequins and beads adding eye-catching sparkle.

Gabriella Ferreira made a fashion statement with a full-length dress of soft greens and blues of her own creation.

It took her at least 20 hours to make the dress, Ferreira said, whose hair sported coordinating wisps of color.

The evening kicked off with a cocktail hour on the terrace, followed by a buffet dinner. Following the crowning of the king and queen of the senior class, and the prince and princess of the junior class, the guests raised their glasses for a sparkling cider toast.

Dessert consisted of cake, popcorn, cotton candy and ice cream.
