Whitman girls duke it out in a traditional night of fun.

Two teams of Whitman High School girls battled it out last week in a series of dodgeball games, tug of war, musical chairs, dance, volleyball, cheers and calisthenics competitions.

The raucous, traditional event, which assistant schools superintendent James Polansky said has been going on for generations, pits teams designated as white or maroon against each other. The white team won  the event, which  was managed by the Girls Leaders Organization, an academic and athletic honor society.

The  group also raised money for the Patricia Keane DeGeorge Memorial Scholarship Fund,  which benefits a nursing scholarship at Adelphi University.
