Huntington Turned Down for STEM Grant

The federal government announced Monday that the Huntington school district wouldn't be among the recipients of a large federal grant for STEM education but Superintendent James Polansky said the decision "Does not compromise our ability to move this program forward."

Speaking at a Board of Education meeting Monday night, Polansky said, "I would love to have that grant in hand, but there is nothing that compromises the program."

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan Monday announced the award of $89.8 million in Magnet School Assistance Program (MSAP) grants to 27 school districts in 12 states.

The Huntington district had sought $11.6 million over a three-year period.
