Herstory Writers Workshop provides opportunities through guided memoir writing that empower women from all walks of life (regardless of age, race, religion, financial status or sexual orientation, whether incarcerated or free) to turn their intimate stories into works of art crafted so that another can hear. Herstory is committed to providing an environment of intensive instruction which, in addition to creating literary works, upholds our values of empathy, inclusiveness, self-guided healing, safety and the search for social change in the expression of voices that historically have been most profoundly silenced.

Personally I think this project is great. I know someone who is in it. She spent time out in Riverhead for drug use. She is a wonderful human being who was over burdened by life and the problems she had trying to raise two wonderful children on her own, college educated, hard working, She struggled daily to keep her home, lost home, job, etc. but continued to raise her children right even though she stumbled into drugs with her own life. She is in the group and has had one of her articles published. This group is helping her to get her confidence back. Keep up the good work, there is so much need in these times for programs like yours. Carol Brennesholtz retired RN living upstate NY.
