The deadline for filing a petition to run for the two open seats was extended to 5 p.m. on May 4 after one of the six candidates that had submitted nominating petitions by the original April 18 deadline withdrew their name after that deadline passed.

In such cases, state education law requires a new filing deadline during which additional candidates may submit petitions to gain a spot on the ballot.
