NY Jet Walker, Author Prato at Book Revue

Author Greg Prato and former N.Y. Jet Wesley Walker will speak about and sign "Sack Exchange" at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, at Book Revue.

Comprised of exclusive interviews with Jets players, coaches, and other figures, "Sack Exchange" takes a look at the New York Jets and the National Football league during the 1980's.

From the events that shaped the 1980s Jets, such as the legacy of Joe Namath, to their four playoff appearances during the decade, each event includes photos, insider information and more.

Other highlights include examinations of the beginning of the Jets' rivalry with the Miami Dolphins; the controversial firing of head coach Walt Michaels; the defensive line, given the nickname "The New York Sack Exchange;" and steroid use by the players and throughout the NFL.

Prato is a Long Island-based journalist whose writing has appeared in such publications as All Music Guide, RollingStone.com, Billboard.com, and Classic Rock Magazine. He is the author of six critically acclaimed and popular books, "A Devil on One Shoulder and an Angel on the Other: The Story of Shannon Hoon and Blind Melon," "Touched by Magic: The Story of Tommy Bolin," "Grunge Is Dead:
The Oral History of Seattle Rock Music" (ECW Press, 2009), "No Schlock . . . Just Rock!", "The Eric Carr Story," and "MTV Ruled the World: The Early Years of Music Video."

Walker is a former wide receiver for the New York Jets in 1977-1989. He was noted for his great speed, averaging over 20 yards per reception over many seasons (his career average was 19 yards per reception). At the time of his retirement, he was second in Jets all-time receiving yardage. Legally blind in one eye, Walker overcame this handicap to become one of the Jets all-time great receivers. When he retired, he had caught 438 passes for 8,306 yards and 71 touchdowns.
