North Shore Gold Coast: The Castle, the Mansion, the Manor House

This bus trip is for patrons of Huntington Public Library and Cold Spring Harbor Library. Meet at lower parking lot of Cold Spring Harbor Library no later than 8:45 am.

Three magnificent North Shore estates created as showplaces for glamorous gatherings of the very rich during Long Island’s Gilded Age! Wear comfortable shoes! First stop, Oheka Castle, the 2nd largest private mansion in America and listed on the Register of National Historic Places, for a private tour and light refreshments. Next, the Tudor style Mill Neck Manor House, overlooking Long Island Sound, to take in the gardens, a Venetian fountain, massive 400 year old doors, a Shakespearean stained glass window, and a delicious lunch! Then, Coe Hall Mansion, set beautifully within an arboretum, offers beautiful original furnishings and artifacts from Europe and the newly restored Louis XVI Reception Room. There may be time to stroll through the Italian Garden and greenhouse exhibits. In-person registration is required with a non-refundable check for $71.00 per person, payable to Huntington Public Library. Each library cardholder may bring three guests (4 total per card). Price includes bus, step-on guide, all admissions, docents, lunch, and gratuities. Pre-order lunch for yourself and your guests by calling 631-427-5165 ext. 257. Leave names and lunch selections. Choose either Periwinkle’s famous chicken salad wrap with apricot, cranberry and toasted almonds OR the seasonal roasted vegetable and goat cheese wrap.
