Making 'Walt's Well'
Step back in time at the Walt Whitman Birthplace and use recycled items to make "Walt’s Well." Craft your own well with items you normally throw away, such as milk cartons or baby food jars.
Whitman was born in 1819 in a Long Island farmhouse built by his father. There was no running water in their home, so the family drew water for drinking, washing and cooking from an outdoor well.
This program would be of interest to Junior Girl Scouts earning a Making Hobbies badge or Webelos Boy Scouts earning a Craftsman Activity badge.
