Civil War Is Topic at Lecture Series

The Huntington Historical Society's spring lecture series continues with “Guns of Glory in the Civil War: What Determined the Destiny of America,” a lecture by Cass Baker starting with refreshments at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 19.

The 2 p.m. lecture at the Soilders & Sailors Memorial Building, 228 Main St., is free to society members, $5 for non-members. Note the change in location to take advantage of the related exhibit,  “A Soldier’s Return … Huntington During the Civil War.”

The presentation will develop the history of Colonel Colt and how he devised the revolver that forever changed handguns as carried by officers in the Civil War. Baker is a former teacher and a member of Sons of the American Revolution's Mayflower Society and past president of the Civil War Roundtable.
