This free forty-minute program promotes the role of lifestyle changes in reducing the risk of breast cancer. The program reinforces regular exercise and proper nutrition and encourages attendees to pay attention to food choices, fat intake, portion sizes and information contained on food product packaging. Attendees are also given the unique opportunity to practice proper breast self examination on and discover what tumors feels like in silicone breast models.
Highly trained educators from the Maurer Foundation, a Long Island non-profit that educates on breast health, help dispel myths, fears and inhibitions regarding breast cancer. By the end of the lesson, a seed of knowledge that will help save lives has been planted.
