Election Day Events at Huntington High School Planned

Fashion show, food drive and art show set.

With several events planned for May 15 at , those casting a vote in the school district election are encouraged to spend a little time outside of the ballot box to take it all in.

Tuesday's list of activities at the school includes student fashion shows at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. and a student art show on display from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

At a school board meeting this week, trustee Adam Spector advised voters not to cast a vote and leave right away.

"Spend at least an hour milling around in the gym and looking at your own child's work, your neighbor's work, people you've never heard of's work," said Spector. "And the fashion show too, it's really a great thing."

Non-perishable food donations will be accepted at the school from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Collected items will to be distributed to the Helping Hand Rescue Mission which contributes to local food banks.

Participants in the food collection on May 15 will be given a free raffle chance for a "family fun basket," according to the school district.

Voting runs from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the school.
