Eagen Leaving South Huntington Schools

Assistant superintendent heading to Plainview-Old Bethpage district.

Dr. Timothy Eagen, the assistant superintendent of instruction and curriculum in the South Huntington school district, starts a new job Thursday.

A 1991 graduate of Whitman High School, Eagen is taking on the job of assistant superintendent for human resources, in the Plainview-Old Bethpage district. He  succeeds Arthur Jonas, who retired in June. He was with the South Huntington district for 15 years.

"I'll miss South Huntington," he said Wednesday night, after accepting the congratulations of the Board of Education. "I'll always bleed maroon."

Eagen comes from a family of teachers. Both his parents are educators, his sister teaches in South Huntington, and his wife is a school psychologist.

Asked about why he was leaving no room for time off between jobs, he said, the Plainview district wanted him to start Thursday and he wanted to "dot all the I's and cross all the T's" in South Huntington before leaving.
