Sept. 8: PTA presidents meeting 9:45 a.m.; Finley Middle School sports tryouts begin 3-5 p.m.

Sept. 9: 9/11 10th anniversary day of remembrance. Sept. 10: ACT testing (not at Huntington High School)

South Huntington School District

Sept. 6:  First day for students; Countywood/Oakwood: Kindergarten orientation from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Sept. 7: Stimson Middle School: First practice fall sports; Board of Education Business Meeting, 7:30 p.m. at district office.

Sept. 8: Birchwood: Grade 5 curriculum night at 7:30 p.m.; Maplewood: Grade 5 curriculum night at 7:30 p.m.

Sept. 9: Silaswood/Stimson Middle School: Pride Day; Walt Whitman High School: Jimmy Egan Boys’ Soccer Tournament at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
