Applications Open for Abrams STEM School

The Huntington school district is accepting applications for enrollment at the Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School for next year.

Two sixth-grade sections will be added next year to the school, which opened this school year with 150 students in grades 3-5.

The school emphasizes science, technology, engineering and math, along with traditional elementary school subjects.

Students enrolled in the school will retain their spotsin next year’s grade four, five and six classes. Students on the 2013/14 waiting list will be given priority for open seats in grades four, five and six, but must reapply for the 2014/15 school year by the Feb. 15 deadline.

  “We are pleased add a grade level to the school and offer the program to a new group of students,” Superintendent James W. Polansky said. The district will enroll two new sections of third graders in the school for next year.
