5 Vie for Huntington School Board

Challengers Cahill, Hebert, Spector, Tully and incumbent Dwyer on the May 17 ballot.

Five candidates including board president Bill Dwyer are seeking seats on the Huntington school board.  The other open seat is held by Christine Bene, who is not seeking re-election.

The five will appear on the May 17 ballot in this order:  Susan Tully,  Bill Dwyer, Jennifer Hebert, Adam Spector and James Cahill. Monday was the petition deadline.

In reverse alphabetical order, the candidates for the three-year terms are:


Susan Tully:
Occupation: financial consultant
Connection to the school district: Tully has resided in District 3 for over 14 years and is a long-term resident of Huntington. She is a graduate of Walt Whitman High School.

Adam Spector:
Age: 48
Occupation: Self employed
Connection to the school district: PTA executive board membership 2008-2010, Current Shared Decision Making Committee member at Woodhull Intermediate and Finley Middle School. Active PTA and school volunteer since my 7th grader entered kindergarten.


Jen Hebert:
Occupation: Pre-school teacher at St. John's Nursery School in Huntington.
Connection to the school district: Three sons attending schools in the district. PTA president and volunteer.  Served on the district's Long Range Planning Committee.


Bill Dwyer:
Age: 46
Occupation: Account manager for a student information system software company.
Connection to the school district: President of the school board.  Earlier, active parent to my three sons attending district schools and through involvement with the school district through local community groups.


Jim Cahill
Age:  46
Occupation;  Lawyer
Connection to the school district; Reared in  Huntington and attended Flower Hill school, Finley Junior High and graduated from Huntington High School in 1982. Two children who attend Flower Hill primary school.
