If you are looking for a gym, or are currently a member at a gym, you should know what kind of equipment will benefit your fitness routines. Gyms are usually packed with a variety of machines, so which ones will really help you get your ideal body? When we get down to the nitty-gritty, any exercise machine that gets you moving will help you burn calories, there are, however, certain machines that can really give you a hardcore workout and target certain areas of your body that you may want to focus one. Let’s look at three different kinds of fitness routines, and see what machines your gym should have available for each routine.

1. Cardio Routine. A cardio routine is the best way to lose weight. Most people join a gym to lose weight, so cardio is the best place to start. Your gym should offer, at the very least, the following machines: treadmills, elliptical trainers, and rowing machines. Treadmills are great because they can challenge each individual user. You can set them at an incline, or a faster pace, to make them a challenge for your workout.

Elliptical trainers are great for working your whole body. Somewhere between a treadmill and climbing machine, the elliptical targets your lower body, while also working your upper body through the pushing and pulling motion of the handles. Plus, elliptical trainers are very low impact making them great for anyone with joint problems. The rowing machine works your entire body, as well. It’s a tough gym workout, and surprisingly, it targets your abs. If you’re looking to lose the tummy, try a rowing machine.

2. Weight Lifting Routine. Weight lifting is important whether you are looking to build muscle or lose weight. Muscle burns more fat, so building muscle can only benefit your body. Check your gym Huntington for free weights. Free weights are the best way to build muscle. If you are new to weightlifting, take it slow for a while and build up. Working with free weights is another opportunity for a total body workout. Try doing squats while lifting dumbbells for an quick weight lifting routine.

3. Resistance Training Routine. Resistance training is somewhat similar to weightlifting since they both build muscle. However, resistance training focuses on building muscle through resistance. Weight machines are the best example of this. Your gym should offer a machine like a Bowflex for good resistance training. There are a number of different weight machines that target different areas, so look for machines that will help with your problem area. Chest press machines, inner thigh machines, and crunch machines are all popular choices.
